Interesting
mix of music today from Faire Folk to Celtic New Age, these tracks will
make a wonderful mix to your MP3 playlist.
If ye noticed,
compilation CDs have temporarily ceased production. I think have one
copy left which I find a wee bit disappointing. Unfortunately, without
MP3.com's one-off system, I'm forced to mass produce the CD. That's
gonna require a wee bit o'income though.
But this
week, I had an idea. The sales of the CD have been for the most part
low, whereas sales for another CD we have on our website, "Songs
of the Faire Folk" (just five bucks) have done fairly well. I figure
with the huge demand for Celtic music on my site, a compilation CD where
people can try out some hot new artists might be the best thing... especially
if the CD sells for just Five Bucks.
So what
do you think? Would you buy Coventina's Well or other compilation CDs
for five dollars? If you're an artist, would you donate a track if the
CD could was sold for five bucks with the plan to promote you?
Let me
know whatcha think?

2. Celtic
Music Band Feature
Siler &
Clarc is one of the most exciting musical teams to come along in quite
a while. A very diversified duo that performs Folk, Celtic, Classic
Rock, and other music styles, complimenting their vocal harmonies.
"Sir
Pervival's Quest" is a comical folk song from this Ren Faire duo
about a knight gone in search of the dragon... and loses. Delightfully
entertaining group!

Solas is
already acclaimed by many as the most exciting Irish traditional group
in the world. They interpret a wide range of material in surprising
ways; songs by contemporary artists are given a Celtic tinge, making
explicit their connections with the deep, ultimately Celtic roots of
American music.
"Another
Day" is wonderful contemporary Celtic album that combines traditional
Irish music with modern sounds from gypsy swing to contemporary pop,
ultimately creating something that brilliantly enjoyable to listen or
tap your feet to.

4. Celtic
Music Band Feature
In the
Fall of 1999, after 4 years of performing at West Coast festivals and
touring with Celtic rock band Spirit Union, Kelly and Emilio Miller-Lopez
started writing and production for a new and unusual project. Kelly's
background in Celtic myth and Shakespearean theatre, and Emilio's skills
as a songwriter and music producer converged to create the mythical
music of Woodland.
"The
Stolen Child" is a from a live performance that does a nice job
showing off their style which sounds very much influenced by Loreena
McKennit's more mystical music. Celtic New Age with a lot of World musical
influence, gorgeous ethereal vocals, you can hear their fae inspiration
with CD covers even designed by Brian and Wendy Froud.
