Well, thank you to those ordered the special offer of "Soul of a Harper". Great to see what people are interested in having more of. I think I can ablidge.

Meantime, the annual tribute to Scotland's bard, Robert Burns, (1759-1796) takes place this weekend. His birthday, January 25th, marks the occurrence of a number of Burns Suppers where folks to have a Scottish meal, drink some whisky, and celebrate the spirit of the Bard. Find out more about at the Burns Supper Guide.

The Texas Highlanders are holding such a Burns Supper in Austin.http://www.AustinCelts.org/aca.shtml. And we'll be down in Harlingen playing one for the Scots down in South Texas.

To celebrate this happy occasion, this issue is dedicated to Robert Burns. BTW, did I mention I have two Burns' songs on my CD: "My Love Is Like A Red, Red Rose" and "Killiecrankie"?   ;)

See ye next week!

"To The Weaver's Gin Ye Go" by Jean Redpath

Jean Redpath was born in Scotland. At the University of Edinburgh, she discovered the School of Scottish Studies which collects and preserves the oral traditions of Scotland. In 1961, she arrived in the United States and through series of "accidents" shared quarters with several legends of the '60s folk revival including Bobby Dylan. An appearance in a hootenanny brought the offer of a booking and won her rave reviews in the New York Times.

Since 1962 she has toured throughout the world and has devoted a large portion of her professional life to the songs of Scotland's national bard, Robert Burns. Her work produced seven recordings which have won critical acclaim.

Jean Redpath is a legend in the Scottish folk community and if there was a Celtic Hall of Fame, no doubt she'd be one of the first to be inducted.
