"Merrily Kiss the Quaker" by String Thaw
Hailing from Rapid City, South Dakota, String Thaw is an acoustic instrumental trio that is composed of family members, Mike Lemay, Holly Lemay, and their son Benjamin Lemay. This band has four CDs out, including their latest, "Smooth Sailing," which is a unique blend of Celtic, Renaissance and old "sailing songs."
Between the three of them, numerous instruments are played, with Mike on the Irish bouzuki, mandolin and bohdran, Holly on the Irish whistle, recorder and guitar, and Benjamin playing the fiddle, mandolin, guitar and accordian.
String Thaw also serves as the "house" band for the local Scottish/Irish Society. In addition, they have performed for many festivals and special events in the Black Hills area, including arranging and performing music for some of the local community theater productions.
