Sinead

Songwriter and now Sean-Nos SingerSinead
O'Connor is back with a new album that I think will pen her up to a new type of
fan--Celtic music lovers. The album is "Sean-Nos Nua" which means "old
style, new way". In it, Sinead returns to her roots and sings traditional
Irish songs. The music is very progressive in the recording process with a very
ambient ethereal sound and minimal instrumentation added by Donal Lunny and Christy
Moore, who coproduced the CD. For a full-length sample, you can listen to Sinead
on the "Song of the Week" station performing a radio edit of "My
Lagan Love". Sinead

Sean-nos
Nua (2002) The latest album by Sinead O'Connor features traditional songs
sung in the traditional Irish vocal style and she does a spectacular job adding
a new, modern sound and life to these songs. Highlights include "My Lagan
Love", Peggy Gordon", and "Paddy's Lament". This is a fantastic
departure from her contemporary pop music no doubt partially inspired by her inclusion
on a Chieftains album a few years back. I
Do Not Want What I Haven't Got (1990) The album that brough Sinead international
acclaim featuring her breakthrough cover of Prince's "Nothing Compares 2
U," It's not a bit traditional or Celtic, but Sinead has one of those voices
that was trained through her roots in Ireland. This has led to her amazing success.
So
Far...The Best of Sinead O'Connor (1997) After the excitement at the Grammy's
many years back, Sinead O'Connor dropped out of visibility to the general public.
But she did not stop recording. She has several albums to her name. This is a
1997 compilation of some of her top songs over the years.
