Miller Scottish Songs, Old and New
Ed
Miller performs songs of Scotland, both old and new. I heard a lot about him when
we started playing Celtic music. People talked about his wonderful performances.
Then about a year ago, Andrew and I got to see him perform at an Austin Ceilidh
we were performing in. It was a good show. So I contacted him to see about helping
to get him on MP3.com. I got all his albums and started uploading some songs. That's
when I began to recognize his talent. He has a live CD. It's my personal favorite,
filled with wonderful Scottish songs and Ed's amazing personality. Well
then two months ago, he was the guest lecturer at the Austin Celtic Associations'
weekly meetings. Then, wow! Ed showed the evolution of the Scottish folk revival,
and it was an amazing experience. With lots of audio examples, you were able to
hear how music progressed over the years. AND I really understood his talent with
audiences. He's like us, he likes people to sing-a-long, but he has an amazing
talent to make it happen. With a simple sweep of his hand, everyone starts singing
along to songs no one knows. Well,
his MP3.com site is filled with some marvelous music...a brief sampling the albums
he has. There are some good labor works songs like "Prince of Darkness"
to some light-hearted kids songs, like the "Jeely Piece Song" to traditional
Scottish melodies, like "The Shearin's Not For You." I
dare you to check out his music. I guarantee you will fall in love with it as
much as I have!
