Irish rock with attitudeBlack
47 came together in 1989 playing a benefit concert for a political activist. During
the set, someone in the audience shouted to them to play something Irish. Singer
and frontman, Larry Kirwan, told the man he was Irish and shut up and listen.
Since then Black 47 has been at the forefront of Celtic scene as one of the most
controversial bands around and the biggest secret in great Celtic rock, recording
eight albums combining an eclectic mix of rock, reggae, hip-hop and downtown noise
fused with Irish traditional music.
